Krista Mölder

Krista Mölder (b. 1972) studied at the Tartu Art College and the University of Westminster and completed a master’s degree at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2006. This year’s Estonian Photographic Art Fair displays new prints of two of her earlier works – “Gardens” (2012) and “Hampstead Heath, calling” (2012).

In her work, Mölder uses references and riddle motifs to study relationships between people and the environment. Having visited Japan on several occasions, she has drawn influence from its architecture and culture. In the larger whole, recognizable forms of human origin as well as natural ones are reduced to two-dimensional colour expanses. Her intrinsically spacious shots always offer tiny details for the observant eye, but they are always captured in a way that keeps the pictures from being too “busy”.
